A born entrepreneur and visionary, Lauren established a marketing and branding company on leaving school while pursuing her tertiary studies. It was through this company that Lauren worked with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. She initiated public fundraising campaigns for both organizations and oversaw the brand governance of both organizations.
Her partnership with the Children’s Fund and Foundation ignited her passion for social justice. This passion directed Lauren to use the lessons learnt through her entrepreneurial endeavors and studies in strategy to advise and lead the establishment of several social justice organizations across several sectors. In 2005, Lauren was appointed COO of the Breast Health Foundation and subsequently established Prime Consulting in 2006 to continue advising social and patient organizations to apply business principles and marketing strategies with the aim of ensuring their greater success and sustainability.
In 2007 Lauren co-founded Campaigning for Cancer, the first South African cancer advocacy patient group. In 2011 she represented South Africa as a Global Cancer Ambassador for the UN’s Resolution for Non-Communicable Diseases and was appointed as CEO of Campaigning for Cancer, a role she continues to fulfil. Most recently, Lauren was appointed a director to the World Lymphoma Coalition and is the Service Users Constituency signatory to and a member of the Joint Technical Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the Presidential Health Compact.
